Advantages Of Deerskin - Deerskin is the softest, yet strongest of any other garment leather. Much greater tensile strength provides greater abrasion resistance. Fifty percent more breathing quality provides much wider comfort temperature range "warmer when it's cold, cooler when it's hot." Hand washable with lukewarm water and mild non-detergent soap. All our garment deerskin has a soil and water repellent finish.

"Threads of the past are woven into the tapestry of the present"

Native Americans of yesterday were constantly exposed to the elements, and wore only deerskin garments, moccasins, and gloves handcrafted from skins that were tanned by the primitive methods handed down from one generation to another. They wore only deerskin because it offered maximum protection, comfort, durability ... and the widest possible temperature range. And they knew it would always dry soft even after repeated soakings.

The early American settlers and frontiersmen soon adopted the wearing of deerskin moccasins, gloves, and clothing, bartering with the Native Americans for them. They, too, wanted the unique advantages offered only by deerskin.

Today, Thurlow has wed some of the Native American ancient art with white man's magic to create beautiful, velvety soft deerskin ... leather so fine in quality and texture that it is unequaled anywhere else in the world. And from this leather Thurlow has designed and crafted deerskin originals of incomparable comfort, quality, durability, and style.

A Note On Deerskin - While other leathers are composed of layers of fibers, deerskin leather has interlocking fibers, making it a very durable, wear-resistant hide. But it should still be treated with care. If you garment gets soiled, simply use a clean, damp cloth and mild soap. Never use detergents, solvents, or gasoline. To help keep your deerskin garment looking good longer, all our deerskin garments leave the factory with a soil-resistant finish.
